January is the time of year when everyone's grass is dormant with the exception of those of you that have winter rye grass. This means that there isn't much that needs to be done. This is good for us has it allows us time to get caught up on our maintenance and training.
What you should see
-
Grass is brown and now longer growing
-
Considerably fewer weeds coming up
-
If you have pets you will see an increase in pet related damage to your turf
What can be done
-
Fertilizer treatments aren't necessary but weed control can be applied for the few remaining weeds
-
Watering can be cut back drastically if not cut out entirely. If you feel like watering be sure to only do it once every two weeks and be sure to check that temperatures wont be below freezing
