What is Fertilization

Fertilization is exactly what it sounds like. The process of using fertilizer to add and replenish the nutrients in your soil and plant life.

Why is it Beneficial

Fertilization varies greatly depending on many different factors. The type and frequency of fertilization changes based on what is being fertilized, the current health of the plant, the quality of the soil and the time of year just to name a few.  Here in North Texas the soil is very nutrient deficient which is why lawns require so much more attention than they do in other parts of the country.  What many people don't realize is that maintaining healthy plan life with strong roots is one of the most important steps in preventing erosion which leads to the very common foundation issues found in North Texas.

When to have it done

Ideally your lawn should be fertilized once a month during the growing season.  The first application should be done a couple weeks before the spring green up to allow your grass time to absorb the nutrients and start the year on its best foot. The final application should be done as the grass begins to go dormant for the winter. This final application ensures your grass has the nutrients it needs to be as healthy as possible over the winter months.
