August in Texas
Its that time of year again when Texas feels like the surface of the sun. This year has been a bit different than usual in that we have had considerably more rain and in turn a lot more humidity. While that has led most of us to feel a lot more uncomfortable the upside is that the grass has been much less stressed than usual.
What you can expect to see
-
Grass growth has slowed
-
Grass turns brown after mowing and stays that way for several days
-
Increased insect activity
How your care should change
-
We switch from granular fertilizer to liquid fertilizer as it is less stressful on the grass
-
We recommend raising the height your grass is mowed to cause less stress
-
We treat the areas of the lawn that are heavily shaded more aggressively as the insects use these spaces to get out of the heat
